Coronavirus Special

Coronavirus Survival Guide – Our plans for surviving the COVID-19 Pandemic!

illustration of a virusYou will be aware that the Coronavirus advice is updated on a daily basis and as a health clinic we feel it important that you know what measures we have taken to ensure that both patients and staff stay safe.

If you have any concerns about attending your appointment with us, please contact the clinic on 020 8878 7887 to discuss this.

This includes anyone with the following symptoms and who may have been in contact with an infected person, or recently visited any of the affected areas – a fever, a cough, shortness of breath –  use the 111 online coronavirus service to find out what to do next. Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.

At Barnes Chiropractic Healthcare we are following Local Infection Control Policies

Our staff are fully updated and we follow these procedures as a matter of course:

  • We have hand sanitisers in reception and in our treatment rooms
  • We have paper towels in the bathroom – please use to dry your hands and discard in the bin
  • Hand washing: our therapists wash their hands with soap before and after all procedures. They also use hand sanitisers.
  • Broken skin is covered with a waterproof dressing.
  • Bench Cleaning – the treatment tables are cleaned with antibacterial wipes.
  • Our therapists wear gloves when there is any direct contact with body fluid, blood, non-intact skin or mucous membrane, after which the gloves are discarded and hands washed with soap & water.
  • Each treatment room has the above equipment in stock and ready to hand.

Please be assured that we are keeping up to date with all developments and advice from both the Government and Public Health England and will continue to take the necessary precautions. We will remain open unless advised to close.

At your next appointment, on entering and exiting the practice please sanitise your hands by washing them in our bathroom or using the hand sanitiser at reception.

Please forgive us if we don’t shake hands – but we are however happy to do the elbow bump – just ask!

What you can do to boost your immune system

  1. Stay hydrated – dehydration leads to increased cortisol levels and lowers immunity.
  2. Get enough good quality Sleep and Rest.
  3. Keep moving – increase your lymphatic function and clear out bugs from your body. Also decreases stress, boosting your immune system. Taking a brisk walk in fresh air and in the sunshine is ideal.
  4. Maintain a healthy diet - lots of different colour vegetables and berry fruits will keep your body supported with essential immune boosting nutrients.
  5. Vitamin C – This helps the immune system kill off a virus if infected (we can advise on effective dosages)
  6. Vitamin D – It is well established that vitamin D plays a critical role in the immune system and especially for respiratory infections. (We can advise on effective doses and products)
  7. Sambucol - This is an elderberry extract and nicely researched on effectiveness against flu. Tastes good, so kids wont mind it!
  8. Zinc, Glutathione, Vitamin A, Garlic. All are proven to help the body fight against viruses. (We can help advise you on products)

What NOT to do…

  1. Relying on tinned food and pasta for nutrition – these will WEAKEN your immune system
  2. Staying indoors and depriving yourself of fresh air and sunshine – you can still ‘self isolate’ without imprisoning yourself!
  3. Stop exercising – even if your are ‘self isolating’, just keep moving!

Remember this…

Louis Pasteur, who developed the ‘germ theory’ and pasteurization confessed on his death bed –

” The Germ is nothing, the Terrain is everything”

– The health of the host is the most important thing. A germ cannot flourish in a healthy body.

Oh, and by the way…

Coronavirus does NOT give you diarrhoea – no need to clear the shelves of loo paper!!

Finally….

GIVE YOUR  SYSTEM A DE-STRESS WITH A CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENT!!
