Julian Keel BSc. D.C
Julian with Juan Pablo Montoya
I qualified in chiropractic in 1994. After gaining experience working in clinics in the Home Counties and working with top-level sports people, such as Olympic decathlete Dean Macey and ex-F1 and Le Mans driver David Brabham, I decided to set up my own clinic and chose Barnes, as it was an area I had already fallen in love with.
At about the same time I opened, I was approached by the Williams F1 team to work alongside a personal trainer, providing the therapeutic care for their drivers, Juan Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher, and race team. This meant a busy, but highly enjoyable, 4 years of working in practice providing care for all ages and backgrounds here in Barnes, whilst at the same time travelling the world to all the F1 race fixtures.
Since starting practising in Barnes I have built up a regular client base of satisfied clients who have recommended their friends, colleagues and family members. One such recommendation was former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash, who finds the chiropractic treatment and massage therapies here highly beneficial to his continuing tennis career.
Whilst travelling in the F1 world I was fortunate to meet my wife and after we both ‘retired’ from F1, started a family. Family life has highlighted my enjoyment of providing care for pregnant mums and their babies.
Out of practice I enjoy golf, cycling, reading and travel.
Since leaving chiropractic college I have furthered my knowledge and skills with post-graduate studies in cranial therapy, clinical nutrition, A.K (applied kinesiology), S.O.T (sacro-occipital technique), N.O.T (neurological organisation technique), paediatrics, and pregnancy.
I feel passionate about my chosen profession and gain enormous satisfaction in my work seeing great improvements in people’s health. I believe everyone can benefit from chiropractic and cranial care. A healthy spine, cranium and nervous system should be regarded as being as important as regular exercise and good nutrition.

Whilst working in Dublin, as a recruitment consultant, I became aware of chiropractic through conversation with the owner of a health clinic. I investigated further and realised its similarity in philosophy to yoga, which I had been practising for a number of years. Despite not being ill or suffering from injury, I visited a chiropractor for treatment and felt such a boost in my overall health that I knew I had to become a chiropractor myself.
I studied at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic and have also undertaken further training in dry needling, SOT, proprioceptive medicine, rehabilitation and paediatrics. I incorporate these techniques and aspects of yoga into my patient treatment plans as appropriate.
I treat people of all ages and all conditions whether acute or chronic, for pain relief, remedial or ongoing preventative care. I love my work and continue to develop my therapeutic skills for the benefit of all my patients.
I joined Barnes Chiropractic Healthcare in 2007.
Outside the clinic I predominantly run and practise yoga to stay fit. I enjoy all sporting activities when time permits especially golf, rugby, football, tennis and marathon running.
My wife Marissa, a Medical Acupuncturist, and I were married in 2002 and we became proud parents in early 2008 with the birth of our lovely son.

I became curious about complementary therapies in the late 80’s as a natural way in which to heal myself when challenged with atopic eczema and I ventured upon trying every therapy imaginable!
I found the tactile therapies that I now practice particularly beneficial and decided upon a whole new innovating career.
I offer massage including essential oils using therapeutic and Swedish techniques. This together with the Eastern approach of energising acupressure with reflexology or shiatsu ensures a complete holistic treatment.
I often tailor a combination of the various therapies, to bring about amazing results for the individual.
I am trained and qualified in massage, including Indian Head as well as Reflexology and Shiatsu and have over 18 years experience..
Ilana Sparnon B.A.
Cert. IV in Massage, Dip. of Remedial Massage
A keen hockey player for 15 years, I represented my state at both Junior and Under 21 level and held a full-time scholarship with the Victorian Institute of Sport for 3 years. I also represented Victoria at University level and was selected for the Australian University Team in 1997. It was my keen interest in sports which lead me to go on to study Remedial and Sports Massage Therapy.
I Qualified from the Australian School of Therapeutic Massage in 2004 with Certificate IV in Massage and a Diploma of Remedial Massage. I have current membership with the International Guild of Professional Practitioners (I.G.P.P.)
Remedial and Sports massage therapy employs a range of techniques to help prevent or treat injuries and pain. Remedial massage is a physical therapy based on western medicine. I have a strong base in Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathology. This enables me as a practitioner to treat with a deep understanding of musculo-skeletal, nerve and degenerative conditions and to also know my limits.
I offer a discounted rate to all London Marathon runners.

Following a career as an Intensive Care Nurse, I completed a postgraduate course in Medical Acupuncture and have since worked within the chiropractic setting.
Working alongside anaesthetists, I became interested in their use of acupuncture in pain clinics and I consequently pursued a career where I can use a clinical skill and give quality time and care to my patients.
With my medical background and understanding of anatomy and physiology, I have naturally become specialised in pain management and musculoskeletal disorders. However, I also enjoy the diversity of working with a wide range of conditions; for example hay fever and IBS (see complementary therapy services for further details).
Whilst my husband, James, was studying to be a chiropractor I had the unique experience of working in the Anglo European College of Chiropractic Clinic and revelled in the opportunity to attend specialist courses. (Rehab, proprioceptive medicine, dry needling, fibromyalgia, myofascial techniques, migraine and pain management to name a few).
My childhood was spent between South Africa and the Middle East whilst educated in Scotland, fuelling a passion to work and travel extensively. Sport has always been instrumental in my life and I have enjoyed treating numerous sport related injuries from tri-athletes and professional rugby players to jet ski champions.
I feel fortunate to have found my ‘niche’ in acupuncture and am passionate about health and educating patients to have control of their well being.
James and I became parents in early 2008 and are enjoying the exciting world of parenthood. We relocated to London in 2007 to be near friends and family and were delighted to both join Barnes Chiropractic Healthcare.
